I began working with people as a volunteer when my children were young. I led small groups and did individual counseling at a local Alcohol and Drug treatment center. When my children entered school, I returned to school and earned a Masters degree at Duke. My career began as a substance abuse counselor at Wake County Alcoholism Treatment Center. After two years I went into private practice where I have worked for the last 16 years.

During that time I have expanded my work to include people who are struggling with their lives. They usually feel bad about themselves and their relationships. I have had the honor of seeing people change dissatisfying lives and relationships into successful and happy lives.

The changes you want to make will happen through a process of creating a relationship where you will feel respected as an individual, cared about for whom you are and where you can begin to talk honestly about what you think and feel. When this happens in an atmosphere of non-critical trust and respect, you can begin to hear yourself and what you believe. You can become free to overcome distructive beliefs and behaviors so that you can have the happy satisfying life you desire.

It is my hope that I will have a chance to be a part of that process in your life.
